It’s that time again. Below we have identified some exciting things to do in South Florida this weekend. As always, if you are aware of something fantastic that we missed, please add it in the comments so we can all benefit! Also, visit the linked sites to confirm date, time, location and details. Sometimes things change.

In preparation for Halloween we have posted a blog detailing many of the events taking place this month. We encourage you to visit it and plan in advance. We will incorporate events that fall on weekends in these posts as well; but the blog gives you the chance to plan ahead! If you are aware of an event we haven’t mentioned, please let us know so we can share it!

Friday, October 12th, 2018

ArtsPark Funtastic Friday and Movie Night 5:00pm – 10:00pm: Bring the whole family, and some friends, to ArtsPark for music, face painting, bounce houses and games. The movie “E.T.” will be shown at 8:00pm. Information available here.

Food in Motion, 5:00pm – 11:00pm: This monthly event, at Peter Feldman Park, is one huge picnic! There is an artisan market, food trucks, baked goods and so much more! Bring your blankets and plan to spend an evening relaxing with friends. Visit their Facebook page for details.

Friday Night Sound Waves, 6:00pm – 9:00pm: The intersection of Las Olas Blvd and A1A is the place to be for weekly Friday night concerts. This week come see the Tom Sartori Visit their website for details on this concert and future ones as well.

Miami Heat v. Atlanta Hawks, 8:00pm: The American Airlines Arena is the site for this exciting basketball game. Click here for ticket information.

Peru v. Chile, 8:00pm: Love soccer? This is your lucky day! Come see Peru v. Chile at The Hard Rock Stadium! Tickets are available here.

Phantom of the Opera, 8:00pm: The Broward Center is the host for the award winning Broadway musical. It’s amazing! Additional showings are available throughout the weekend. Click here for ticket information.

Saturday, October 13th, 2018

Hollywood Beach Sweep Cleanup, 7:00am – 11:00am: Stop by Charnow Park in Hollywood and help beautify the beach! Volunteers will spend a few hours picking up debris and making our beaches clean and beautiful. Click here for details. After you clean the beach, consider grabbing brunch from one of the fabulous local restaurants.

Cardboard Boat Race, 8:00am The City of Hollywood Marina is the site for this design and sail a boat race. Boats can be built on or off site, and then the race takes place. This is a perfect way for a family to spend the day. Details are here.

Bow-Wow Ween, 9:00am – 1:30pm : Sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines, this is your chance to celebrate Halloween with your dog. Consider visiting one of Broward’s dog parks after this fun celebration. Click here for more details on this event.

Fall Festival at Bedners Farm Fresh Market, 9:00am – 6:00pm: It may be worth the ride up to Boynton Beach for this amazing festival. In addition to your “typical” fall events, like a corn maze and pumpkin patch, there are great veggies and fruits for sale and even an animal encounter (with a kangaroo)! Dania Beach Farm and Market, 9:00am – 1:00pm: Visit and participate in children’s activities, crafts and more. Details available here.

Flamingo Gardens Harvest Festival, 9:30am – 4:00pm: Its the 9th Annual Great Scarecrow Weekend at Flamingo Gardens in Davie. Enjoy the park and the special Pirates and Princesses Weekend! Come by celebrate and take advantage of everything this fabulous park has to offer. This event continues on Sunday.

Florida Panthers v. Vancouver Canucks, 7:00pm: The BB&T Center in Sunrise is the site of this exciting Hockey Game. Visit their website for ticket information.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, 8:00pm: Visit the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center to see this fan favorite! There are additional showings throughout the weekend. Visit their website for showtimes and tickets.

Coral Springs Farmers Market, 9:00am – 1:00pm: Come by the Artwork for opening day of this weekly farmers market. There will be amazing food and fun for everyone. Visit their website for more information.

Tamarac Farmers Market, 9:00am – 2:00pm: Veterans’ Memorial Park is the site of this fabulous farmers market which occurs every Sunday in the fall. Stop by and pick up some delicious treats! Click here for the City’s calendar.

Antiques and Vintage Collectibles Show, 9:00am – 4:00pm Pembroke Pines is the location for this fabulous event which also continues on Sunday. Dealers will be present from across the area. Click here for more details.

Be Kind to Animals, 11:00am: Visit the Sawgrass Nature and Wildlife Hospital for this weekly program where guests are introduced to a new animal ambassador. Click here for more information.

Live Music, Gulf Stream Park, 7:00pm – 9:00pm: This outdoor shopping area presents live music several nights a week. Check out their website for who is playing! This is a great way to wind down the weekend.

Upcoming Events

Halloween Hoopla October 19th: Visit Tamarac park for a fun Halloween celebration. There will be bounce houses, games and BSO demonstrations. Look at the city’s website for details.

Family Halloween and Safety Festival, October 20th: Sponsored by the City of Plantation, this event will be held at Volunteer Park. For $5 per person (ages 2 and up) you can spend the day at a children’s carnival complete with pony rides, face painting hay rides, costume contests and more. Fall Harvest Festival, October 21st: Stop by the Athletic Complex in Sunrise for this fun, holiday festival. Pick a pumpkin, take a horse drawn hayride, play games and eat some delicious treats! Take a look at their web page to see the flyer and get more information.

Kitober Fest, October 20th and 21st: Visit Haulover Park in Miami for this two day festival dedicated to kites! You can bring a kite or buy one there. There will be contests and activities for adults and kids alike. This promises to be super fun! Click here to learn more.

Las Olas Art Fair, October 20th and 21st: This annual event is a fan favorite ! Save the date and plan to spend the day wandering through the streets of Las Olas and admiring some beautiful art. Click here for details.

MSD’s Not So Scary Halloween, October 27th: The Stoneman Douglas Drama Club in Parkland is hosting this fun family event. There will be pumpkin decorating, hayrides and more. Visit their Facebook page for details.
