Friday, July 13th, 2018
Florida Supercon, 10:00am – 8:00pm: All anime, comic book, video game and animation fans, plan to attend this event (Thursday – Sunday) at the Broward Convention Center. Visit their website for details.
Stoked on Salt (SOS) Conservation Day, 4:00pm -10:00pm: Visit Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park for a fun and educational event for the entire family. In addition to food and music there will be a movie, kids zone, information booths and so much more! There is no charge for admission, so put this on your calendar. Food in Motion at Peter Feldman Park, 5:00pm – 11:00pm: This event, which recurs on the second Friday of each month, features food trucks, farm stands and local artists. There is even music. Plan to spend the evening relaxing with friends, family and neighbors. Details are available here.
ArtsPark Funtastic Friday and Movie Night, 5:00pm – 10:00pm: Bring the whole family, and some friends, to ArtsPark for music, face painting, bounce houses and games. And, at 8:00pm you can settle down and watch the movie “A League of Their Own”. Bring blankets and chairs for seating. Information available here.
Pooches on the Patio, 5:30pm -7:30pm: Visit Hooters in Boca Raton, along with your pup on a leash, for a happy hour that benefits the Tri-County Animal Rescue. The ten dollar admission gets you a draft beer, wings and “things”. There will be live music, raffles and lots of fun. More information is available here.
Friday Night Sound Waves, 6:00pm – 9:00pm: Enjoy this free concert at the intersection of Las Olas Boulevard and A1A. This event, which recurs every Friday evening, features a different performer each time. Click here for more details.
Shane Duncan Band, 7:00pm – 11:00pm: Visit the Gulfstream Park and Casino for this free concert by this local country band. There will be food and drink specials all night. Details are available here.
Starlight Musicals, 7:00pm -10:00pm: These free concerts, which take place on Friday evenings through August 10th at Holiday Park (east Sunrise Blvd and Federal Highway) are a great way to bring in the weekend. Summer Youth Fishing Derby, 7:45am – 10:00am: Have a child, ages 3-12, who loves to fish? Come by Pine Trails Park in Parkland and stop by the fishing pier for a morning derby! Details available here.
Paw Prints in the Sand, 8:00am – 6:00pm: While a bit of a trip for those of us in Broward, this event (which will also be held on Friday and Sunday) may be worth the time if you’re a dog lover. See the AKC dog show, watch the dogs being groomed and talk to the experts. Admission is $5.00 per day and there is a parking fee of $5.00 as well. For more information, visit their website.
Overtown Music and Arts Festival, 11:00am – 7:00pm: Enjoy this day-long exciting event. Taking place in the Overtown Business District in Miami, you can spend the day listening to music, trying delicious ethnic food, browsing the arts & crafts booths and watching your kids enjoy the funzone! World of Beer, 8 Year Anniversary Street Party: 11:00am – 2:00am: How’s this for a day-long adult event? There will be specialty beers and music. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
Futness Fitness, Noon – 6:00pm: Love soccer? Love working out? This may be the thing for you. Head on over to the Aventura Mall and participate in some soccer training drills designed to enhance your fitness. You can even take some penalty shots and relax in their lounge. Bark at the Park, 4:00pm: It’s bring your pup to the park day at Marlin’s Park! Come enjoy the game with your dog; a portion of the proceeds will support the Humane Society of Broward County. Click here for ticket information and details.

National Ice Cream Day: It’s today! In honor of National Ice Cream Day many shops are offering special deals. Here are two that we love. Baskin Robbins, with locations throughout South Florida, is releasing its deals on its mobile ap on Sunday. Download it and check it out for a sweet treat. Carvel, which also has a host of local shops, is offering a buy one get one free on soft serve cups and cones. Check your local store to see if the promotion applies. Also, this may be a great day to check your other favorite ice cream shops (besides these two, of course) to see if they are celebrating too! July is actually National Ice Cream Month! In honor of this we will be sharing a blog on some creative and fun ice cream shops in South Florida. Keep your eyes open for it!
Royal Pig Pub World Cup Finals, 10:00am: Come by the Royal Pig Pub and watch the World Cup Finals! For $14 you can have bottomless bloody marys, mimosas or bellinis. Sounds like fun. Also, you can watch the third place match on Saturday, same deal. More information is available here.
Book Fair, 1:00pm – 4:00pm: Visit the Stirling Road Branch of the library for this fun, family book fair. This fundraiser, hosted by Friends of the Library, provides visitors the chance to grab some great books at a great price. $5 a bag (they provide the bag). Puppy and Me Time and Paint What You Feel, 6:00pmam – 8:00pm: This bi-monthly event gives you the chance to paint a portrait of your pet. What a great way to spend a Sunday. Click here for the flyer.

KC and the Sunshine Band, July 20th: Nothing says summer music like this group. They will be at the Hard Rock Event Center. Details are available here.
Bugfest by the Sea, July 24th – 29th: It’s lobster mini season. Participate in this Fort Lauderdale event where you can catch up to 12 lobsters per day. More information is available on their website.
