Located in Hollywood, Florida, McArthur High School is part of the Broward County Public School System and serves about 2,100 students The school’s administration, teachers and staff are committed to providing a high quality education and preparing students for the future.
Schedules
The school operates on an block schedule; meaning students are enrolled for 8 classes (seven academic and one “study hall”). Periods 1-4 meet on A days and 5-8 on B days. Class length is approximately 90 minutes.
Academic Programs
McAthur offers a broad range of core and elective classes and has a Career Technical Education Department. Additionally, students are provided the opportunity to dual enroll.
After School Activities
After school activities are diverse and well-respected. The students, whose mascot is the Mustang, participate in a variety of after school clubs including chorus and robotics. Finally, the school is home to 12 sports programs at the varsity and junior varsity levels. The student body is extremely well-rounded.
Parent Involvement is actively encouraged as the school has an active PTA. Parents are also encouraged to participate in both SAC and SAF.
Feeder Schools
Portions of the student bodies from Apollo Middle, Driftwood Middle and Pines Middle feed into McArthur. The schools work closely together to ensure a smooth transition including academics and activities.
