The school operates on an A/B block schedule; meaning students are enrolled for 8 classes (7 academic and one “study hall”). Periods 1-4 meet on A days and 5-8 on B days. Class length is approximately 90 minutes.
Deerfield Beach High School is committed to ensuring its students are college and career ready. In addition to college prep classes (including honors and AP options), the school also offers the following industry certifications: Allied Health Assisting, Marketing, Multimedia Design, Culinary, TV Production, Finance, Digital Design, Digital Video Production and Digital Audio Production.
Also, Deerfield Beach High is also home to the Communications/Broadcast Arts Magnet which has a number of well known and distinguished alumni. It also houses a well-regarded International Baccalaureate Magnet program and the Urban Teaching Academy Program. Finally, qualified students are able to dual enroll and earn college credit.
After School Activities
After school activities are equally as diverse and well-respected. The students, whose mascot is the Buck, participate in more than 60 clubs and membership organization on campus, including very active academic honor societies. Finally, the school fields teams in more than 15 sports at the varsity and junior varsity levels, many of which have experienced significant success. The student body is extremely well-rounded and involved.
The school has a PTSA as well as SAC organization. Parents are encouraged to stay involved in their children’s education by participating with these groups or volunteering.
A portion of the student bodies of Crystal Lake Middle, Deerfield Beach Middle and Lyons Creek Middle school feed into Deerfield Beach High. The schools work closely together to ensure a smooth transition including academics and activities. Additionally, students throughout the county apply to participate in their magnet programs.
