It’s that time again. Below we have identified some exciting things to do in South Florida this weekend. Also, keep in mind that this is President’s weekend. Students in Broward County have off from school on Monday; we have included events for then in addition to the weekend! Additionally, you can check out this blog from last year that shared some great “staycation” ideas for your family; they are still relevant and available today! Friends of the Helen B. Hoffman Plantation Library Used Book Sale, 9:00am – 5:00pm: This event, held at the library’s location in Plantation, continues tomorrow, the 16th (but hours vary). If you are a reader, this is a great opportunity to pick up some books to add to your home library! Make a point to stop by and visit. Funtastic Friday, 5:00pm – 8:00pm: Visit ArtsPark in Hollywood for this weekly family fun evening. There will be music, bounce houses and more. Click here for more information.

A Taste of Oakland Park, 6:00pm – 9:00pm: Jaco Pastorius Park is the site of this 3rd annual event. Tickets for adults can be purchased on line, at a discounted price of $15. You can purchase tickets at the event (for $20), but only a limited number will be sold. Children under 12 will be admitted free when attending with an adult. Visit their website for additional ticket information along with details on participating restaurants. This is a great way to kick-off the holiday weekend.

Pompano Food Truck Roundup, 6:00pm -9:00pm: Take advantage of our beautiful weather and head on over to Atlantic Avenue and Dixie Highway (Old Town Pompano) and enjoy the offerings of some awesome food trucks. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

Friday Night Movie Night, 8:00pm – 10:00pm: Continue your evening at ArtsPark in Hollywood. Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in to watch “Return to Me”. Details are available here.

“weekend”BYOB Painting Class “Moonlit Romance”, 8:00pm: Extend your Valentine’s Day celebration with this instructional painting class hosted by the Arts & Crafts Social Club in Fort Lauderdale. What a wonderful and relaxing way to continue to celebrate. More details are available here.

Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, 8:00pm: “Oh What A Night” it will be at the Hard Rock Event Center in Hollywood when this favorite group performs. Doors open at 7:30 for the 8:00pm show. Click here for ticket information.

Chris Hixon Memorial Run, 8:00am: Sign up now to participate in this scholarship run in memory of Coach Chris Hixon, former athletic director and wrestling coach of Stoneman Douglas High School. Coach Hixon worked at several schools in the county; this event provides the opportunity to honor his life and commitment, support Broward County Students and get in a little exercise. 2019 Florida Renaissance Festival, 10:00am – Sunset: Mark your calendars (and buy your tickets) for the Florida Renaissance Festival at Quiet Waters Park. This annual event is open on weekends through March 24th. Every weekend offers something new and exciting. Visit their website and learn all about it! Note, you can visit here all weekend, including Monday!

Broward Sheriff’s Shred-A-Thon, 10:00am – 1:00pm: If your pile of papers labeled “to shred” is growing, here is a great opportunity to get them out of your house. The Broward Sheriff’s office is hosting a shred-a-thon in Tamarac at Kings Point. View their flyer for additional information including quantity limits.

Classic Car Show, 10:00am – 4:00pm: If you are a lover of classic cars, head over to the Sunrise Athletic Complex for this event. Admission for the public is free! Enjoy classic cars, music and food trucks. Click here for additional details, including information on exhibiting.

StoryWalk in the Pines: Literacy through Art on the Plaza, 10:00am – Noon: Come to The Frank in Pembroke Pines and enjoy a “story walk” through the book “Maybe Something Beautiful”. There will be games, crafts and snacks. Please preregister. Visit their Facebook page for more details.

Farmer’s Market at the Shops at Pembroke Gardens (in Pembroke Pines), 10:30am – 7:00pm: Come by for a day of yummy shopping! This is the perfect place to grab your fresh fruits and veggies and a whole lot more. Check out their flyer.

Looking for a family friendly (for young children, birth – age 5) evening activity? Check out Winterfest at the Community Christian Church in Tamarac. There will be bounce houses, snow and more. Visit their website for admission fees and more details.

Doggy Fun Fest, 9:30am – 3:00pm: Looking for a great way to spend the day with your pup? We have found it. Head out to the 6th Annual Doggie Fun Fest at Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park. Delray Beach Open, 11:00am: If you are a tennis fan, this is the place to be. Come see some of the ATP’s most exciting athletes compete. This event is running all weekend. Be sure to visit their website for ticket details for the entire event.
