Located in the Hollywood, Florida, South Broward High School serves a community of students numbering more than 2,200.  Home to the District’s Marine Magnet Program, the school is extremely well regarded.

Schedules

Daily classes operate on an A/B block schedule.  This means that students are enrolled for seven academic classes and one “study hall”.  Periods 1-4 meet on A days, while periods 5-8 meet on B days.  The days alternate and each period lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Academic Programs

Among the broad range of classes offered are honors, gifted, AICE/Cambridge and AP.   Additionally, students can dual enroll.  Each year students apply and are accepted to a broad range of colleges and universities.

After School Activities

With an active student body, extra curricular activities are an important component to the school’s “personality”.  There are over 30 clubs, including several active honor societies.   Athletics are also popular at the school.  Known as the Bulldogs, student-athletes participate in over 10 sports and are supported enthusiastically by the student body.

Parent involvement is welcome as parents are invited and encouraged to join the school’s SAC committee.

Feeder Schools

Portions of the student population from Attucks Middle and Olsen Middle School feed into South Broward High School.  Administration and staff at all three schools work closely to ensure that the transition to high school is a smooth one.  Additionally, students may apply to the magnet program.
