Located in Oakland Park, Florida, Northeast High School is part of the Broward County Public School System and serves over 1,800 students from Oakland Park, parts of Fort Lauderdale and a portion of North Lauderdale.

Schedules

The school operates on an A/B block schedule; meaning students are enrolled for eight classes (seven academic and one “study hall”).  Periods 1-4 meet on A days and 5-8 on B days.  Class length is approximately 90 minutes.

Academic Programs

An “A” rated school, Northeast also offers three magnet programs: Latin, Biotechnology and Alternative Energy. The school also offers traditional high school classes, the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge AICE program and the opportunity to dual enroll.

After School Activities

The students, who are known as the hurricanes, participate in eight sports at the varsity and junior varsity levels, many of which have experienced significant success.

Parental involvement is encouraged through the schools SAC and SAF organizations.

Feeder Schools

Portions of the student body from Rickards Middle, Lauderdale Lakes Middle and Pompano Beach Middle feed into Northeast.  The schools work closely together to ensure a smooth transition including academics and activities.
