Seminole Tribal Fair and Pow Wow, 10:00 am:  Visit the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and share in the 47th annual cultural festival.  Events (which continue throughout the weekend) include alligator wrestling, dancing, food and so much more.  Visit their website for additional details.  Please note, this event is free to the public and great opportunity for your both adults and children to learn and enjoy!

Food in Motion at Peter Feldman Park, 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm:  This event is essentially an after dark green market.  There will be food trucks, artisan foods and lots of fresh produce.  Come by, have dinner and stock up on some delicious treats for the weekend.  More details are available here.

Oakland Park Community Soul, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm: Celebrate Black History Month and the contributions of  the Caribbean and African American Community.  This event, at Jaco Pastorius Park, will include live music, delicious food and lots of activities for the kids.  Click here for additional details.

Fort Lauderdale Greek Festival, Noon: This fabulous weekend long event (visit Saturday and Sunday, too) is truly a celebration of food, culture and music.  With carnival rides and lots of vendors there is something for everyone in your family.  Make a point to visit sometime this weekend.  Check out their website for more information.

BSO Shred-A-Thon, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm:    If you’ve done some spring cleaning, this is the perfect opportunity to safely dispose of your personal, outdated paperwork.  Shredding documents helps avoid identify theft.  If you are a Broward resident you can bring up to five boxes of papers and have them shredded.  Details on box size are available here.  Additionally, BSO will also accept old prescriptions.  This is a safe way to dispose of medication that you no longer need.  This event will take place at Oakland Park City Hall.

Florida Renaissance Festival, 10:00 am to Sunset:  Held at Quiet Waters Park, this much anticipated annual event opens on the 10th and remains open until March 25th.  Every day offers food, activities, contests, costumes and more.  Words really can’t describe this event, you have to experience it to understand it.  Their website provides a host of information on tickets as well as what to expect.  Check it out!

Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm:  Located at the Pembroke Lakes Mall, this fun festival features over 60 beers and 40 bourbons.  And, lots and lots of BBQ.   Click here to learn more about this unique event.

Paramount’s Laser Spectacular, 8:00 pm: This amazing laser show is choreographed to the music of Pink Floyd.  Showing at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, this show will celebrate the Album Dark Side of the Moon.  Visit the Broward Center website for ticket information.

Cooper City Richardson 5K Run/Walk and One Mile fun Run/Walk, 8:00 am:  Looking for a fun way to get a little exercise into your weekend?  The Cooper City Richardson event is the perfect place to do it.  Held at the Cooper City Sports Complex, this event is perfect for some outdoor time.  Get up and going on a beautiful South Florida weekend.  For additional information call 954-434-4300 X233.

Jazz Picnic in the Park, 11:00 am to 2:30 pm:  Pack up you picnic supplies and spend a few hours relaxing at Lieberman Botanical Gardens in Lauderhill.  Details on the band playing and additional events are available here.

Pride Fort Lauderdale Festival, Noon to 8:00 pm:  This day long festival has vendors, entertainment and exhibitors.  It is an annual celebration of the LGBT community.  For more information, visit their website.

Wednesday, February 14th:  Valentine’s Day

Lake Worth Street Painting Festival, February 24-25th:  This is an annual event which is worth the ride into Palm Beach County.  The works of art, on the pavement, are amazing to see.  Add music, food and street performers and it’s a weekend not be missed.  For more details click here.
