Broward County Schools

BCPS serves a diverse student population, with students representing 206 different countries and 189 different languages.

Broward County Public Schools Boundaries

Each year, the School Board evaluates and revises if necessary, the school boundary maps for the County. In order to get first priority to attend a school, you must live within the assigned boundary areas for that school.  The School Board has two additional ways to attend a school not in your assigned school boundary.  The first is by taking advantage of one of the District’s several magnet programs throughout the County from Elementary through High School, and the other is through a reassignment request through the School Choice Program.

Magnet Program

BCPS Magnet programs give students the unique opportunity to focus on different specialty skills from Biotechnology, Aviation, Pre-Law and even Pre-Med just to name a few.

School Choice Program

The District recently enacted a program called the School Choice program.  This program allows families the unique opportunity to file an application for reassignment to a school that is not your assigned boundary school.  This gives families the opportunity to select a school based on the greater family needs, rather than merely where you live.  This program is based upon school population, so the more popular, higher rated schools may prove more difficult to get an out of boundary reassignment for.
